Tekever, a Portuguese drone manufacturer and leader in autonomous systems based on Artificial Intelligence, has surpassed the mythical valuation threshold that defines a unicorn: one billion dollars, following a recent funding round.

Founded by three DEI alumni and currently led by Ricardo Mendes, Tekever’s core business today is the production of surveillance drones. However, it wasn’t always that way; the company previously developed systems for banking, healthcare, insurance and telecommunications, a testament to its competitiveness and market adaptability.

By reaching unicorn status, Tekever joins the exclusive group of Portuguese companies that have achieved this milestone: Outsystems, Feedzai, Talkdesk, Remote, Anchorage, and Sword Health.
