Inside DEI

In this Inside DEI, we will get to know our colleague Pedro Morais a little better.

  • Tell us a little about yourself and your journey at IST.

I’m Pedro Morais, I’m 50 years old, and I came to Técnico about 10 years ago.

I started in the Maintenance Unit, then moved to the Undergraduate Area, and later joined DEI.

  • Tell us a little about what you do now at DEI.

Currently, I am part of the digitization, communication, and infrastructure team. Together with my colleague José Luís, I am responsible for DEI’s communications. In practice, I conduct daily research for the creation of news content, do photographic reporting, handle image selection and editing, create content, and maintain the DEI website pages and their respective social media platforms (both news-related and non-news content). In addition, I prepare materials for various events throughout the year and carry out several maintenance tasks and data collection activities related to the Communications Office.

  • What do you enjoy most about your daily work at DEI?

First of all, I enjoy the atmosphere within the team I work with directly. I’m lucky to be surrounded by wonderful people, not only in professional interactions but also on a personal level. They are like a second family to me.

I also greatly appreciate the dynamism and autonomy that my work allows. However, clarity of objectives is equally important to me, and it is something I find in the group I interact with most closely.

  • Who is Pedro outside of Técnico?

I’m curious about the world around me.

I enjoy reading, cinema, and music. In these areas, I’m quite eclectic and somewhat random in my explorations.

I like art and drawing fairly regularly, and I have a soft spot for late 19th- and early 20th-century Portuguese painting (Silva Porto, Malhoa, Columbano, etc…).

I also have a fondness for board games and card games.

And now, “this conversation is very pleasant, but…” ;)
