The welcoming session for new students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering at Campus Oeiras (LEIC-T), the Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering at Campus Oeiras (MEIC-T), and the Master’s Degree in Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering (METI) took place on September 3.

The LEIC-T and MEIC-T presentation sessions were led by their respective coordinators, Professor Carlos Martinho and Professor Pedro Monteiro.

Both sessions began with an address by Professor Ana Teresa Freitas, President of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DEI) and IST Values Ambassador. This was followed by presentations of the programmes by their respective coordinators, who introduced students to the main aspects of the programmes, as well as the rights and responsibilities associated with them.

Two Research Units were subsequently presented: INESC-ID, by Rodrigo Abreu, head of the Communications and Outreach Office and the Interactive Technologies Institute, by DEI Professor Nuno Nunes.

The events also featured representatives from the Taguspark Student Support Office, the Academic Development Centre, the IST Students’ Association, the IST Computer Science Student Group and the LEIC-T Student Delegates.

The presentation of METI, followed by a conversation with the students, was led by its coordinator, DEI Professor Fernando Ramos.

The sessions concluded with a light meal, providing an opportunity for the new students and other DEI members to get together and socialize.
