The DEI community came together once again to celebrate its annual day with another edition of D-DEI.

The event took place at Culturgest on the 24th of June and brought together faculty members, staff and scholarship holders.

Following the welcome coffee, Professor Ana Teresa Freitas, President of DEI, welcomed all participants. This was followed by a talk from Professor Generosa do Nascimento entitled “Pontes entre gerações na academia”. Combining humour, information, and reflection, her presentation kept the audience engaged until the very end.

“Como construir uma carreira com equilíbrio?” was the question posed by Professor Andressa Oliveira. Through an interactive voting and discussion exercise, she encouraged debate among participants and fostered an enriching exchange of perspectives and experiences.

Later in the morning, Professor Andressa Oliveira moderated a panel featuring Professors Daniel Faria, Luísa Coheur and Rodrigo Rodrigues, together with Elisabete Fonseca, a staff member from the DEI Support Services Office, which gathered different perspectives on the topic within the department.

The afternoon featured the panel “O Futuro da Universidade (na era da IA)”, moderated by Professor Arlindo Oliveira and joined by Professors Ana Paiva, Nelson Zagalo and José Fonseca de Moura, who participated remotely, as well as Bernardo Caldas, Director @ mollie. During the session, the speakers reflected on the near future of higher education and knowledge creation in a context of increasing adoption of artificial intelligence.

D-DEI officially concluded with closing remarks from Professor Ana Teresa Freitas, who reviewed the period since the previous edition of the event, highlighting the proposals presented at that time, the measures implemented in the meantime, and the future prospects for DEI.

In a relaxed atmosphere, participants continued their conversations at a sunset gathering held in the gardens of Palácio Galveias, bringing to a close another memorable day dedicated to sharing, reflection, and strengthening the DEI community.
