Can you “Conquer the Adamastor”?

Applications for the “Vencer o Adamastor” (Conquer the Adamastor) prize are open until the 20th of October.
This prize, launched by INESC in partnership with the newspaper “Público” and valued at €20,000, recognizes the innovative work of young scientists, developed at an institution based in Portugal, in the fields of electrical engineering, computer science, and related areas. The awarded work should demonstrate not only scientific excellence but also the potential for developments that benefit society.
As a curiosity, the motto “Vencer o Adamastor” was born in 1980, when José Tribolet and João Lourenço Fernandes (later both founders and Presidents of DEI) created INESC, with the aim of developing an institution that would play a significant role in addressing the chronic lag in the country’s scientific and technological fields.
