Title: The Doctoral School and the PhD Fast Track Program

Abstract: The Doctoral School is a recently established structure at Técnico designed to oversee the education and training of its doctoral students. In addition to promoting a reform of the doctoral curricular structure, it is carrying out several initiatives, particularly to strengthen the connection between Técnico’s doctoral programs, companies, and international partner institutions (co-supervisions and doctoral school networks). One of the initiatives of the Doctoral School is the PhD Fast Track program, which aims to attract the most talented and motivated students to pursue an academic path. It allows the early start of doctoral studies during the master’s degree at Técnico by designing a research project that ensures continuity of work between the two cycles, thereby shortening the time required to obtain the PhD degree. Tuition fees for the doctoral program are covered immediately after the approval of the master’s thesis (Engenheira Maria Amélia Chaves Award).
