The PhD-DEI is back! Join us!

In order to promote better integration between new PhD students and those further along in their studies, to increase the visibility of the research being developed, and to create connections, the DEI is once again organizing PhD-DEI, a gathering of its doctoral students.
The session will take place on the 31st of October, at 10:00 AM, in the Pavilhão de Informática II. Those interested should fill in the form (whether they want to present a poster or just attend) by the 13th of October HERE.
Agenda:
- 10:00–10:30 – Presentation by the coordinators of PDEIC and PDM and discussion of topics of interest for PhD students in DEI programs.
- 10:30–11:30 – Poster session for students with significant work already developed.
- 11:30 – Announcement of the best poster, as voted by attending PhD students.
Coffee and sweets will be served during the poster session and voting!
Students who already have developed work, preferably with accepted papers where they are the first author, are asked to prepare a poster in A0 (vertical) format describing their research. Poster display space is limited, so there may have to be a selection among those who express interest. The list of selected posters (ideally, all of them!) will be made public on the 14th of October.
Poster printing costs will be covered by DEI. Students must send their A0 poster in PDF format to dei@tecnico.ulisboa.pt, including in the subject line "[PhD DEI Poster]", no later than the 21st of October to ensure timely printing.
We are aware that the IST PhD Open Days will take place on the 27th-28th of October. The two events are not mutually exclusive and have different purposes. PhD-DEI, being shorter and more focused, aims to bring together the Informatics PhD student community in particular. If you attend both events, you may use the poster printed by DEI at the Open Days, before bringing it on the morning of the 31st. Those wishing to do so should follow the PhD Open Days template and can collect their poster at the DEI services on the 24th of October. Others are free to use any template they prefer.
After the session, the posters will remain on display in DEI hallways for a week, and a vote for the “sexiest” poster will be open to the entire teaching and student community. In this way, we hope to further showcase your work across Técnico, with particular emphasis among Master’s students. Some posters may remain on display in DEI spaces for a longer period.
Start preparing your poster now! :)
