Ana Paiva, researcher and professor at DEI, took part in RTP’s “Sociedade Civil” programme.

Joined by Alexandra Leitão, professor at the Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa; Leonel Moura, visual artist; and Steven Gouveia, researcher at the Mind, Language and Action Group of the Institute of Philosophy of the Universidade do Porto, she reflected on the ethics of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The conversation addressed topics such as the possibility of AI being conscious and the importance or usefulness of such consciousness; technological innovation versus regulation; civil liability in the use of AI and the reliability of machines.
