NUNO JARDIM NUNES

Nuno Jardim Nunes, Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering, is a Full Professor and Coordinator of the Interaction and Graphics area and founder of the Interactive Technologies Institute (ITI) at LARSyS, a research unit of excellence at the intersection between design, interaction and digital technologies. Nuno is co-Director of the international partnership with Carnegie Mellon University where he is a visiting professor at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII).

Nuno advocates for the role of design in participatory culture and sustainability. His research influences how digital technologies (from sensors to artificial intelligence, interactive stories and mixed reality) can engage and inspire inclusive and sustainable citizenship. His contributions led to the creation of the vision for a Bauhaus of the Sea, one of the main projects of the New European Bauhaus.

Nuno has organized several international conferences and published more than 190 scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences on topics such as software engineering, interaction, energy systems, sustainability and service science.

He was investigator-in-charge of several European and national projects with more than 20M€ of competitive funding.
