The MasterTalk by Professor Arlindo Oliveira on Computer Engineering attracted many participants

On the past 16th of November, the main auditorium of the Centro de Congressos hosted all those who wanted to attend the MasterTalk given by Professor Arlindo Oliveira on the challenges of Computer Engineering.

Professor Arlindo Oliveira provided a brief review of the history of technological advancements in computing and artificial intelligence. The lecture covered topics such as statistical language models (like ChatGPT) and different types of algorithms for describing and generating images. The focus was on the opportunities that the Master's degree offers to students in areas such as computer vision, medical diagnosis, game development, bioinformatics, artistic creation, building design, language processing, deepfakes, cybersecurity, autonomous driving, as well as data science.

The session was moderated by Susana Moreno Monteiro, a student of the Master in Computer Science and Engineering (MEIC). Representing the Master in Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering (METI) was student Sara de Amaral Sant'Ana.

For the many students present, some not from the Técnico, this was an excellent opportunity to clarify doubts about possible academic paths.

Taking advantage of the occasion, DEI displayed posters in the atrium of the Congress Center showcasing works developed by DEI doctoral students. This exhibition revealed research in various topics, capturing the attention of all who passed by.
