The DEI celebrated its day once again!

On the 5th of April, another D-DEI was celebrated. The event brought together, as usual, everyone related to the department for a day of outreach, discussion, and socialization.

The day began at the Centro Cultural de Belém. The Welcoming remarks were given by Professor Miguel Correia, President of the DEI. Subsequently, the new department professors were presented  by Professor Cláudia Antunes. Professor João Pavão Martins, one of the founders of DEI, gave a lecture on the topic "O ACM/IEEE-CS/AAAI Computer Science Curricula 2023".

Still in the morning session, a debate on the theme "Investigação Excelente no DEI", moderated by Professor Luís Caires, gathered opinions from Professors Rodrigo Bruno, Rui Henriques, Valentina Nisi, Ana Paiva, and José Fragoso Santos.

The afternoon featured two debates: "Computer Science and Engineering: Keep it simple vs. an ever-expanding sphere" and "LLMs no Ensino da Informática". The first debate was moderated by Professor Rodrigo Rodrigues and included participation from Professors Yair Amir (from Johns Hopkins University, via Zoom), Sérgio Guerreiro, and Ana Paiva. The second debate was moderated by Professor Daniel Gonçalves and involved Professors Alberto Abad, José Borbinha, Luísa Coheur, João Ferreira, and David M. Matos.

Congratulations to DEI and all those who make it possible and continuously better every day.
