Celebratory breakfast for International Girls in ICT Day brought together dozens of participants

Around 70 participants, including students, professors, and staff, attended the celebratory breakfast for International Girls in ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) Day.

The event (1st edition), organized by DEI, took place in the Salão Nobre of the Central Pavilion on the Alameda campus on the 28th of April.

The breakfast, which always took place in a convivial atmosphere, began with remarks from the President of IST, Professor Rogério Colaço. This was followed by a speech from the President of DEI, Professor Ana Teresa Freitas. Afterwards, a panel composed of engineers Amélia Santos, Beatriz Mano, and Ana Rita Baião, all connected to different stages of DEI, and moderated by Professor Ana Teresa Freitas, discussed their personal journeys and challenges as women in ICT.

Finally, all the participants answered reflective questions about their qualities, dreams, and aspirations, and some of their responses, without exception, inspiring, were read aloud.

More than just a moment, this event undoubtedly left participants with the sense that we are working toward a better and more equitable world, not only in ICT, but in society as a whole.
