Joana Silva, a student of the MEIC, was the winner of the 2023/2024 KPMG Merit Award in Cloud Computing and Virtualization.

The award was presented on the 29th of October at KPMG's offices in Lisbon. The ceremony was chaired by Professors Pedro Amaral (Vice-President of IST for Business Relations and Operations), Daniel Gonçalves (Vice-President of DEI for Education), Luís Veiga (Responsible for the Cloud Computing and Virtualization course unit), and Rodrigo Bruno (DEI lecturer). Engineer José Alexandre Correia (Partner at KPMG), who also served on the award jury, represented the KPMG company at the ceremony.

On this occasion, a donation was also presented to DEI to improve the quality of education.
