Applications for the 8th edition of the Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo Award are open until September 30th.  

The award is designed to annually honor two women who graduated from Técnico:

• A former student who completed her studies at Técnico more than 15 years ago, counted by the 31st of December of the year prior to the award and who has distinguished herself through her professional and/or social contributions. Application form HERE.
• A recent graduate of Técnico, under the age of 27 as of the 31st of December of the year prior to the award, who has stood out for the scientific quality of her Master's thesis and academic record at Técnico. Application form HERE.

Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) established the Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo Award in 2016 as a way to promote the importance of gender equality at IST and to recognize the crucial role that women play in all fields of Engineering.  

Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo was an Engineer and a distinguished student of IST, who had a significant impact on Portuguese society and politics at various stages of her life, notably being the first woman to hold the position of Prime Minister of Portugal.
