Two professors from the DEI have the honor of being part of the XXIV Government of Portugal, both as Secretaries of State.

Full Professor Ana Paiva, from the Scientific Area of Artificial Intelligence, is the Secretary of State for Science, integrated into the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation.

Full Professor Alberto Silva, from the Scientific Area of Information Systems, assumes the position of Secretary of State for Modernization and Digitalization, integrated into the Ministry of Youth and Modernization.
