Professors and former DEI student participate in study that could revolutionize the understanding of cancer cells

Emanuel Gonçalves and Susana Vinga, Professors at DEI, and Sofia Apolinário, a former student of the Bologna Master's Degree in Data Science and Engineering, are collaborating on a study that has given rise to a model that could revolutionize the way we look at cancer cells.

Through the use of machine learning, the model achieves "greater accuracy in predicting how cancer cells would respond to treatments and opens new opportunities for discovering potential therapeutic targets."

The study has already resulted in an article published in the journal Nature Communications.
