Miguel Mira da Silva took part in Talk .IA

Miguel Mira da Silva, Professor at DEI, participated in the 3rd edition of Talk .IA.
On this occasion, he argued that large-scale reskilling is urgent, warning that Portugal needs to retrain around 300,000 people per year until 2030, a volume ten times higher than the current number of new students entering higher education. He also emphasized that there is “widespread lack of knowledge” about the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in companies and that actual adoption of these technologies is almost nonexistent.
Miguel Mira da Silva further stated that AI agents have the potential to do “ten times more than ChatGPT”, but no one knows how to use them, defending an urgent reform of the education system and professional training.
