Inside DEI

In this Inside DEI, we will get to know our colleague Glória a little better.
- Tell us a little about yourself and your journey at IST.
My name is Glória, and my journey at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) began in May 1990. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work in various departments, starting in the Personnel Section, which we now know as the Human Resources Department (DRH). Later, I worked in the Mathematics Department and the Undergraduate Support Office (GAL) at Taguspark. The restructuring of GAL led to the division of undergraduate programs, and it was at that moment that I joined the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DEI), where I continue to work with great satisfaction.
- Tell us a little about what you do now at DEI.
At DEI, I have taken on various roles and collaborated in different areas over the years. Currently, my work is more focused on the academic field. My main responsibilities include preparing equivalency plans for first- and second-cycle courses, managing the procedures for the Curricular Unit "Project in Computer Engineering II" (PIC2) and dissertations, and coordinating exam proctoring for first- and second-cycle students. Each of these tasks is essential for the smooth operation of the department and the success of our students.
- What do you enjoy most about your daily work at DEI?
What I value most in my daily work at DEI is the camaraderie and the excellent relationship between staff and faculty. This positive environment makes the daily work much more enjoyable and motivating. I am proud to be part of such a united and collaborative team.
- Who is Glória outside of Técnico?
Outside of IST, I dedicate part of my time to volunteering with an international non-governmental organization called "Serve the City." It is a very rewarding experience to be able to help the community through this organization. In my leisure time, I enjoy painting, reading, and going for outdoor walks with my grandchildren. These activities help me relax and recharge.
