An unexpected risk associated with the use of AI?

Arlindo Oliveira, Professor at DEI, argued on Fórum TSF, in the context of the European Union’s intention to advance with Artificial Intelligence (AI) regulation, that such regulation is necessary to control high-risk uses, such as in medical or legal functions. He also predicted that, in the future, sector-specific regulations will emerge.
He further highlighted the importance of finding a balance between protecting users rights and maintaining commercial competitiveness.
As for the danger of machines replacing human thought, he warns of a (perhaps) unexpected risk: the possibility of us becoming lazy.
