A PhD student from the DEI created a game for children with hyperactivity and attention deficit

It's called DiversiBots, and it's an innovative research project focused on the co-creation of robotic games for neurodiverse children – both neurodivergent and neurotypical. The project has already resulted in the creation of two main products: the game "Shark Escape" and the co-creation kit "PartiPlay."

DiversiBots aims for active participation of neurodivergent children in the creation of their own playful moments and seeks to promote their self-determination. It also contributes to mutual understanding between neurodivergent and neurotypical children, promoting more inclusive educational environments.

Patrícia Piedade, a doctoral student at DEI, is the lead researcher, working with other members of the department such as Professor Rui Prada and Professor Hugo Nicolau. The project is supported, among others, by the Laboratório de Jogos and GameDev Técnico.
