Título: Compiler-Driven Specialization through Data Streaming
Resumo: Data movement is still one of the main bottlenecks in modern computing. As such, the data streaming paradigm has reemerged as a potential solution by exploiting explicit decoupling of memory access and computation. Delegating address generation and data fetching to specialized streaming engines allows the computing core to operate in parallel with the memory subsystem. To do so, the compiler must automatically extract stream dataflow representations, modeling complex memory patterns as predictable streams and operations as computational graphs, to effectively bridge the gap between source code and stream-enabled hardware.
This presentation explores ongoing research in applying compiler-driven stream specialization across modern computing platforms. In particular, it will discuss how integrating these data streaming mechanisms into general-purpose processors effectively mitigates memory latency bottlenecks and improves computing efficiency, how linearizing complex memory accesses enhances vector execution within SIMD architectures, and how mapping stream-dataflow representations onto reconfigurable accelerator architectures can provide high-throughput domain-specific acceleration.
