The LumiNation project, whose team includes Vasco Pires, a DEI student, won the Portuguese edition of the Red Bull Basement competition and went on to represent Portugal at the global final. The event took place in San Francisco, USA.

LumiNation is an intelligent adaptive public lighting system that uses artificial intelligence to optimise urban lighting, reducing energy waste by predicting the movement of pedestrians and vehicles. In addition to contributing to more efficient and sustainable cities, the project also aims to restore the visibility of the night sky.
