DEI alumnus wins the 2025 Professor Luís Vidigal Award

Pedro Cerqueira Lobo, a DEI alumnus, has won the 2025 Professor Luís Vidigal Award.

The award recognises the scientific excellence, innovation, and quality of his master's dissertation, Supporting Raw Data Copies in the LLVM Intermediate Representation, supervised by Professor Daniel Lopes. The dissertation proposes improvements to the way LLVM, one of the most widely used compiler infrastructures for programming language development, represents and manipulates data in memory, addressing limitations that can lead to incorrect optimisations and hinder the efficient implementation of fundamental operations such as copying and comparing memory blocks.

The Professor Luís Vidigal Award is presented annually to the best master's dissertation in the fields of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Computer Engineering.

The award ceremony took place on 27 June during ElectroDay.
